Welcome to Shortographs.

I wanted to share my autograph collection, and thought that a website would be the
best way.

Collecting autographs can be considered to be a hobby, but I guess it is also an
addiction as well.  Once you start the ball rolling it is very hard to stop, and despite 
a few years off I am now back in the saddle again.

It all started when someone bought me an autograph book as a present.  When you
moved from junior school to comprehensive school it was "the done thing" to get 
autographs of teachers and friends.  My first book is pretty much testament to this and
has a number of teachers, relatives and friends.  It then started to broaden when my 
father took me to a fete and Bernard Cribbins and Norman Rossington were signing.  
The next step was after football matches.  I am a Nottingham Forest fan, and after 
the games in the late seventies and early eighties we would wait outside the players 
entrance and collect signatures.  Collecting cricketers at Trent Bridge soon followed.

When I started working I lost interest, but when our firm moved to premises next to
the Theatre Royal in Nottingham it started a bit again.  Following a house move I 
thought that I had lost my collection, and it was not until I moved again over ten years 
later that it re-appeared and the bug took full grip.

Nowadays I will write off for autographs, buy the occasional one from a reputable
seller and also attend fan events at various places across the midlands (please note 
that I do not dress up in Star Trek outfits or anything similar).

So thats pretty much a potted history of how it started.  If you look in the different 
sections you should be able to see details of the autographs I have, pictures of them 
and how I obtained them.

If this site inspires somebody else into collecting, firstly can I wish you good luck, and 
secondly apologise for the huge amount of time it will take up!

Oh, the reason that this website is called Shortographs...my name is Richard Short.

My old website was last updated in Feb 2010, and was quite behind in terms of my collection.

So, here is the new version of Shortographs.  It will probably take me a while to get it up to speed, but I do hope you like it.
